I have been reviewing blogs this morning and read several comments to these blogs. In a couple of instances people responded to a blog by saying "This blog is way too long..........". Listen, the beautiful thing about blogging is that you don't have to read it. For me, I don't like to read blogs about Bernanke's latest comments on the economy or about "Mary's newest puppy". But this variety is why AR is such a great place. It has a little bit of everything for anybody. If you are concerned about getting blogs that you don't like, then start subscribing to the blogs of people you enjoy and only look at those.
Also, just because you are not a good writer and your blogs are only 51 words in length, doesn't mean everyone elses should be too....................
Now, get off your high horse and go get a listing!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say that was harsh. That was just some feedback from some of the members. With that input, everybody can grow. If that person gets alot of the same feedback, then maybe a change would be beneficial to themselves and everybody else. People that comment that the blog is too long is only trying to help. They are not trying to get on a high horse. Thanks for your thoughts, Royal..
I think plenty of mine are long. I dont want to post it in a series and I have a lot to say. If you dont want to read it dont. If you found it interesting enough to click then you might find what I said interesting enough to finish. I guess it comes down to whether you like novels, magazines, or the back of cereal boxes!
Either way if you dont want to read it then dont.
Yadda, yadda, yadda.... The weekend is upon us and its week #1 of the NFL! I know they are bad, but go 49ers!
Royal - I think you are missing the point. The content of blogging is at the discretion of the writer, not the reader. Again, I'll give you another example. I love to read blogs from the home inspector guys, but I really don't need a "8 x 10" picture of a hot water heater that is not connected correctly. That doesn't make this a bad blog. It does make it a blog I don't care to read. Thanks for your comments though......oh BTW "alot" is two words; "a lot".
Shane - Right on!!!
Capital, I have a question?
Were you named after your grandfather Period or your great-grandfather Exclamation Point?
Why don't you use your name?
I hit the self-destruct when I run across material that is loathesome, too long, too short or just plainly out of touch...just push the button and onto the next...
I know people think I'm a long-winded b******
One of the main reasons I enjoy activerain is I don't have to read everyones blogs. I just move on.
Yeah some people have nothing better to do than complain about everything.
Now they are complaing about your use of punctuation.
I think you have a valid point that we can write about whatever we want and people don't have to read it if they aren't interested in it.
Cheers,
A~
Lewis - I had to read (more about me to get your name). I agree with your post. I just got one of those too long to read comments! ...excuse me, then move on and please don't bother to comment. I do feel some of my posts are long. I don't always have the time for other posts that are long, it just depends on the given day. I also noticed the comment about it being too long is from somebody who barely has any points at all. Perhaps this person just isn't well versed and is collecting AR posts by just pasting a too long comment in somebody elses blog. Ad for Brenda's comment on your post - maybe harsh but you really should update your profile so people don't have to look up your name - just a suggestion!
I think the "lack of name thing," is a marketing ploy..... Hey, it worked on me!
I am not a good writer but I am practicing!
When I did my first blog post, it was commented that it was too short. I counted a 175 words and it got straight to the point, oh well...
I don't think anyone was on their high horse, they were voicing an opinion which is what AR is all about. True if they think the blog is too long, DON'T READ IT!! I have seen many that look like a small novel and if I don't like the subject matter I move on. I also like to read the blogs from home inspectors but, I enjoy the pictures also, I know the one you are talking about and there again, that is the preference of the blogger which is his right!!
I loveit. I love when people say what they think. This is a forum for discussion, you don't have to read it or respond to it. AWESOME!
I think of active rain as a positive place, I know people can be harsh here. But luckily, I have always gotten positive comments from members.
